Many players praised the main quests and storyline of Final Fantasy XIV Heavensward. On the other hand many complained about weaker side quests and FATES in the game.
During our exclusive Gamescom interview, Naoki Yoshida told us more about new quest types coming to the game:
“I already talked to the team about the Moogle side quests, because they are quite tiresome and tedious jobs. For the future, we like to remove this type of quest.
There are two points to improve for side quests: First of all, you need to assign a proper story to that side quest. We also want to add more variation to the side quests.
For example, you may need to find the highest building an an area and jump off from the top if it. Or you need to carry a certain item and secretly sneak into a building without being noticed by anyone.
We think that adding that mini-game type of quests to the game should be fun. I actually talked with the team about this last week, before coming to...
FFXIV News GC 2015: New attractions coming to Final Fantasy XIV gold saucer, including flight challengesPlayers love the gold saucer and the new flying mounts in the Final Fantasy XIV: Heavensward expansion. As a fan of both, I wondered if we will ever see Heavensward-centered mini games being added. Imagine using your mount for a flight challenge with rings just like in the old Pilotwings games.
During our interview with Naoki Yoshida at Gamescom, the game’s Director and Producer answered:
“To stick to the gold saucer first: There is a big update coming in patch 3.1. A new attraction will be added, equally in size compared to Tripe Triad or the Chocobo Races. It’s going to be really big.
Besides the addition of other mini games, adjustments to the MGP coins and to the rewards you will get through your coins will be made.
We even had plans for a mini game in 3.0, where you had to find rings in the game world with your flying chocobo within one minute to claim a reward. Back then we hadn’t the costs and resources to do it, but currently the level design team is...
Well, another month's passed and it's time again to pick one of our amazing Guides to feature! So far, you've all shown a lot of interest in the Guide Bounties, and some really great ones have already started rolling in. After much deliberation, we're please to present the Guide of the Month...
Kylie's Ultimate Chocobo Guide
One of our 3-Star Bounties in July, clearly a lot of time and effort went into preparing this Guide. From tips to leveling your chocobo, to foods and dyes, to an index of all the different barding you can collect for your Kweh Companion and how to get them, this Guide really lives up to it's Ultimate name.
Make sure you check this Guide out, and give it a 5-Star rating to join us in showing our appreciation for @Kylie 's hard work!!!
Hey everyone, we've all been busy with Heavensward lately and with all the new skills available, crafting and gathering has gotten quite interesting (red scrip gathering is such a grind lol). I've tried the Whistle system and for some reason, just don't like it, especially when rng is not on my side. Maybe I'm just using it wrong. Currently this is my rotation for all my crafts and it seems to work for me...most of the time ><
Craftmanship: 719 Control: 665 CP: 402
Rotation: 70 or 80 Dur

As everybody knows, Heavensward crafting introduced the new "Whistle System", which is an addition to our existing Inner Quiet system. At the moment, this system is NOT necessary yet for the current Master Recipe III items. However, we expect the mastering of this system is required to craft very difficult items that are to come in the future new patches. So it's good to learn your whistles right now.
"Whistle While You Work" (WWYW, CP cost 36) is a skill that creates a stack of 11 Whistles. The Whistle stack (W stack) is paired with the following actions into one package:
(a) Satisfaction (15 CP recovery)
(b) Trained Hand (32 CP) (progress + quality same time)
(c) Nymeia's Wheel (18 CP) (durab recovery)
All these skills require you to equip your "Soul of the Crafter" to use. If you have trouble with that, please visit:
Many people have asked me if I have chosen...
The Echo Podcast Crew is back!
Listen to our latest episode HERE: http://ffxivrealm.com/media/the-echo-episode-16-the-behind-the-scenes-episode.214/media
And we're extremely proud to present one of our most devout and dearest listeners as a co-host this episode, @joshua david
In this episode, we're giving you the straight, un-cut and only-slightly-censored version of The Echo, as we go behind the scenes to give our listeners a bit of what our infamous pre-shows sound like. A lot of round table discussion about anything and everything to do with Heavensward - amoung other things. No segments, no bumpers - just straight un-cut and totally random talk. There is a Loremaster in there...
So from what I can see, we'll be dealing with Goblins this time around, or in this case the Illuminati and from what was said at the end of the 3.0 MSQ, Cid I'm guessing may have a hand in this raid along with possibly Brayflox. From the preview during the trash pull I saw an Astrologian using Gravity, which means it will be possible for us to DPS in this raid. That's so nice. What do you guys think?
Well, I was just gonna dump an Ishgard theme on everyone as a kind of surprise.
But then, I had a glorious idea!
What if our FFXIVRealm Ishgard background was created by an actual Realmer??
I don't think I'm alone in thinking that would be amazing!
So, here's what I'm thinking: I'd like an Ishgard theme to go live in early/mid-August here at the Realm. If anyone from our talented community would like to submit a screenshot or a piece of artwork for the background image of our new theme, please do so! It can be for a light theme or a dark theme, doesn't matter - and you work will be featured as our default theme at the Realm pretty much until the next expansion. As you'll soon see, we'll be removing the fluid width of the content area here really soon, so your work will have lots of visible area, and - of course - you can feel free to add your signature and details to the piece so you get lots of publicity.
Hope everyone's enjoying Heavensward! Caimie's away for a few days, so I'll be stepping in just this once to announce our featured Guides of the Month for July (it's super easy, considering she already told me which one should get the nod a few weeks ago.)
This month, we're going ahead and featuring two Guides in celebrating of the end of 2.0 and the start of a new chapter in FFXIV. So, without further ado...
#1 - Console/Controller Targeting by @praysolace
The first we've actually been wanting to feature for some time. If you're a PS3/PS4 player, or you play with a controller on your PC, and you haven't checked out @praysolace 's guide, Console/Controller Targeting, you're really doing yourself a...
Camate here, taking a quick breather from the excitement of Heavensward with my two pals Topaz and Emerald.
A tank that can summon Carbuncle egis? What is this sorcery? Well, you got me. I didn't add any arcanist abilities to my repertoire of skills for tanking, and if you look closely you'll notice that they aren't even egis at all--they are minions!
You might have caught a glimpse of these cuddly Carbuncle plushes on Letter from the Producer LIVE Part XXII and in previous blogs, but you'll be happy to know that each one comes with its very own in-game minion item.
The master of accessories and fashion, Yoshi-P, decided that the next cool thing is going to be wearing Carbuncle plushes on your arm, and here he is...
So I'm just throwing this out there, because our guides section here at Realm is one of our greatest resources, and one of the things that draw people in. I get the impression that many people feel like that they're under qualified to write guides, and so they themselves don't participate. Why aren't you qualified?
"I'm not good at my class". So write about crafting or something
"I can't craft either". So write about what you do know
"FFS MATT ITS MY FIRST DAY, GIVE ME A BREAK!!" You mean to tell me you've had the game for 24 hours and you haven't learned anything that a newcomer might want to know?!
Seriously though, I recently wrote up a guide that was just about picking the right data center/server/class/job, all things that involve not even having started playing yet. I didn't know most of the information, I just looked it up.
So here's some ideas of guides you could write that involve all levels of know-how. Just remember to quote your sources if...
This month, we're featuring a new BLM guide in our library:
kotorinbo's Level 50 Black Mage Guide
The guide has very detailed explanations on the mechanics and game play of the Blackmage class. kotorinbo has even included a few of his own videos that helps to explain different BLM rotations. Whether you're still a learning BLM or a veteran BLM, this could potentially be something useful to you. So please don't hesitate to check it out!
The Echo Podcast Crew is back!
Listen to our latest episode HERE: http://ffxivrealm.com/media/the-echo-episode-15-the-one-about-the-best-worst-of-2-0.213/media
In this episode, we're joined by Jinzuku, one of the moderators here at the Realm, in time for our review of the best and worst parts of 2.0. This episode was actually recorded a number of weeks ago, but due to some RL issues (read: getting slammed with work) it's been a long time in editing.
If you're interested in being a part of The Echo, we'd love to hear from you! Send us your plugs, you shout-outs, your achievements, your pre-recorded segments, we'd love to give them a spot in one of our upcoming episodes. And, as always, we're still looking for a crafter to come on and be the host of our...
Details regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV: Heavensward and all the exciting things its launch will usher in have been revealed through Letters from the Producer LIVE on multiple occasions. In this new series, we’ll be casting a brighter spotlight on some of the major things you can look forward to in Heavensward!
Today we’ll be taking a look at the three new jobs: dark knight, astrologian, and machinist!
The pious Ishgardian clergy guide the flock, and the devout knights protect the weak. Yet even the holiest of men succumb to the darkest of temptations.
None dare to administer justice to these sacrosanct elite residing outside the reach of the law. Who, then, defends the feeble from the transgressions of those meant to guide and protect them?
A valiant few take up arms to defend the downtrodden, and not even the holy priests and knights can escape their judgment. Pariahs in...
Well, hello Realmers!
I've been doing a lot of humming and hawing lately about the state of our Wiki. You may have noticed that, as of today, I've removed it from the site's navbar to make some room for some of our more well-used pages on the site. Now that I've revamped the Guides section, and added the FC page, it's time for me to roll up my sleeves and take a look at the Wiki. I'm wondering if it's something our community even wants. Obviously, Wiki's require a lot of people's contribution. It would be great to have one, even if it's just the basics, to supplement and cross-link with our Guides section. Personally, I'd love to see it. But, the questions remains; Is a Wiki something our community wants? Is it something you think would be attractive to other players who may not have heard of the Realm yet? Is it something you'd contribute to?
Please take a second to vote on the poll above, and give us your ideas about the Realm and a Wiki. The question to be decided is this:...
-Note that all of this is taken from Reddit and compiled for easier access.
About The Jobs
- New stance call "Deliverance", increased damage and have its own stacks called "Abandon". Deliverance and Defiance can be switched and the remaining stacks will change to those of the according stance i.e. Wrath and Abandon will be retained and swapped while switching stances.
- A new AOE that looks like an Earthquake.
- The new buff shown on the HW trailer named "Raw Intuition". Guaranteed a Parry while being attacked in front, but guaranteed a crit damage if attacked from other angles.
- A crystal "taunting" move.
Ok, I spilled a wall of text earlier on a hello post, which was really odd, so now I'm moving that text here, to share the story, and to bring on some discussion. I'm also curious on other people's FC as well.
When I joined AoT in 2013, I didn't know it stood for "Attack on Titan", and that "The Survey Corps" was the organization in the anime who fights against the Titans. Back then, all I knew was the people in the FC "AoT" had fancy and pretty clothes, and I wanna be part of it! I almost thought AoT means "Association of Textiles" or something.
The FC AoT came with a long history of chaos and brink of deaths before peace & prosperity finally arrived. It began in 2013 as a raiding group consisting of, obviously, anime fans. Then the original leaders decided to "take a short break", and left the FC to the hands of another leader. Then months passed by, and the original leaders never returned. People left the FC, and it was dying. So the existing leader decided to fully take...
