Just curious, I haven't done any roleplaying since my EQ1 days. Are/were any of you guys into roleplaying in FFXI or FFXIV? Did your character have a backstory, and did you maintain your lore's role during gameplay? Would love to hear about some of the stories people have come up with their characters if so
I think if I went and shared some of my role-playing stories from Star Wars Galaxies it would consist of several novels. I've been recognized, years later, in other MMORPG's whenever I mention "Oleh' Starfyre." I made a lot of friends, enemies, and in-betweens when I played that. I was the first Jedi on my server, 3rd world-wide. I was the 7th to make Master, but I was the only "original" Jedi to survive on Flurry before they took away permanent death. Maybe I'll make a blog post...
I have done some very lighthearted and comical role playing when spamming Chocobo escorts in FFXIV. I have to say it fascinates me and I would like to try it more seriously some day
I used to RP back in SWG, and FFXI. I kinda stopped when I got into WoW for several years...one of those decisions i rather regret.
I kinda have this story in my head about what life would be like if we lived in a FF world but at the same time it's still our world.
Have you ever read the Everworld series? Very similar to this concept and a good read at that (its a bit simple, targeted for teens)

It's just a thought at the moment, never really got it down on pen and paper or anything but one of the idea's I had is Teen agers around 14 or so think that being Dark Knight/Dragoon/Black mage etc is a really fun, cool and exciting where's as in reality, If that Behemoth get's one it's horns through your gut. You just not going to take damage and numbers appear, you going to feel pain and you might end up dying. something that the teenagers just don't comprehend.
