There are no easy metrics to judge DPS by compared to tank or healer sadly.

Its because Tank and Healers are at the center of attention. Simple as that.

Caveat to this: Ran Bray as a WHM today, and marked/Reposed off targets so i didn't have to spam heal....every time the DPS just woke it up....I hate you DPS who don't pay attention to marks!

Yup, but on the flip side really good DPS doesn't get credit often enough either. :/

Its funny cause really good DPS along with decent heals and tanks can make a run very smooth, so smooth you forget they're there at all. Paradox!

Sovereign, any tips on recognizing good DPS? I'd like to give them recognition too(I usually try to if they at least followed my marks haha)

Following marks is a good one, as well as waiting for the tank: allowing them to collect the aggro, not pull additional enemies, aware of their area attacks if a mage is putting enemies to sleep, etc. Dodging AOE's, there's no excuse for getting hit by something if you have the time to avoid it, and it puts more stress on your healer!

Pulling weight with the enemies ( aka do your part! ). Taking care of adds asap, they can wipe a party if left untended. -- I don't get many commendations myself, makes me wish we were on the same server! Lol

Aww that'd be cool if we were! I love finding friendly people. :D Although so far it's been all other tanks I've friended on my server... not much help in raids haha.

It is still a little hard for me to watch everything that is going on(because I don't even know any skills beside my job and I still feel overwhelmed) but I'm going to try to be more aware so I can give credit to where it's deserved. :D

Oh I agree, things can get chaotic very quickly! I don't even mention when I'm new on raids/dung/trials anymore. Lol. Don't want to risk people leaving and I can just follow the the mass of players. I catch on pretty quick once I've done something. ^^

Once you get used to tanking, it gets pretty easy to follow whats going on. But during hectic moments, its easy to get tunnel vision and lose sight of everything except for "Hold this mob here....damnit Im losing it...stay stay...wait my HP is low!! HG!"
